It's a \u201csmoke alarm\u201d that addresses issues before they become severe, says Rosie Turner, co-founder of <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/inchorus.org\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">InChorus<\/a>, the platform being used by Hogan Lovells. It\u2019s about identifying \u201cfriction points\u201d that employers can then use for training to improve office culture.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>To put things into perspective, <\/strong>while reporting \u2014 anonymously \u2014 on the platform, employees are not allowed to name individuals to avoid misuse of the service. The scale of the issues reported, like belittling someone\u2019s effort or being referred to as technologically challenged, don\u2019t warrant escalation, but addressing the insensitivity behind them can foster a sense of compassion.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Not everyone thinks this is a good idea. <\/strong>Chris Preston, director and co-founder of consultant firm <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/theculturebuilders.com\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">The Culture Builders<\/a>, told <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.peoplemanagement.co.uk\/article\/1879282\/city-law-firm-introduces-anonymous-microaggression-reporting-%E2%80%93-business-follow-suit?bulletin=pm-daily&utm_source=mc&utm_medium=email&utm_content=20240702_PM+Daily_NWL_CIPD_GLO_MIX_MAN_NA.https%3a%2f%2fwww.peoplemanagement.co.uk%2farticle%2f1879282%2fcity-law-firm-introduces-anonymous-microaggression-reporting-%25E2%2580%2593-business-follow-suit%3fbulletin%3dpm-daily&utm_campaign=&utm_term=1162150\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">People Management<\/a> that this policy might lead to fear and suspicion among the workers and that it would stop people from resolving the problem in-person. \u201cHaving adult-to-adult conversations at the point of transgression is the way to move this forward, not secret reporting,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Management will never truly know what\u2019s going on.<\/strong> According to Ethan Burris, professor of management at the University of Texas\u2019 McCombs School of Business, the fact that the reports are anonymous will hinder the management\u2019s ability to follow up with the individual directly.
