VW has already tapped three Egyptian manufacturers \u2014 IDACO, MOBICA, and El Teriak Industrial Group \u2014 and talks are ongoing with Renault. A delegation from the French multinational group was <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2018\/03\/14\/is-renault-looking-to-open-an-assembly-line-in-egypt\/\">in town last week to meet<\/a> with its local distributor, Egyptian International Motors (EIM), to explore the possibility of assembling cars in Egypt.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, <strong>El Assal for Auto Parts will invest EGP 50 mn this year in a local production facility that will make a range of mechanical parts for Kia and Mitsubishi cars<\/strong>, Chairman Mahmoud El Assal <a href=\"http:\/\/www.almalnews.com\/Story\/369809\/18\/%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B9%D8%B3%D8%A7%D9%84-%D8%AA%D8%B1%D8%B5%D8%AF-50-%D9%85%D9%84%D9%8A%D9%88%D9%86-%D8%AC%D9%86%D9%8A%D9%87-%D9%84%D8%A5%D9%86%D8%AA%D8%A7%D8%AC-%D8%A3%D8%AC%D8%B2%D8%A7%D8%A1-%D9%86%D8%A7%D9%82%D9%84-%D9%83%D9%8A%D8%A7-%D9%88%D9%85\">also tells the newspaper<\/a>. The company should finish feasibility and technical studies next month, he says. Kia Motors had signed an agreement with Egyptian International Trading & Agencies <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2018\/03\/13\/kia-local-partner-to-invest-egp-4-2-bn-in-egypt-assembly-line-over-the-next-five-years\/\">last week<\/a> that will see them invest EGP 4.2 bn over the next five years in a new local assembly line, which Trade and Industry Minister Tarek Kabil said was part of a <strong>wave of positive news to the industry as the government pushes ahead with issuing the Automotive Directive some time this year. <\/strong>The bill, which means to encourage assemblers to move further up the value chain into manufacturing, has faced several delays due to the clashing interests of various auto industry players (mainly assemblers and importers).
