The law, which received approval from the Ismail Cabinet in early February, <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2018\/03\/01\/customs-act-lowers-tariffs-on-capital-goods-to-2-from-5\/\">would slash customs duties<\/a> on capital goods to 2% from a current 5% and expand temporary exemptions for production inputs and packaging equipment.<\/p>\n<p>In other legislative news,<strong> the House of Representatives is expected to vote today on amendments to the Railway Act<\/strong> that would allow the private sector to participate in the development and management of the sector. The bill, which had received a preliminary nod <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2018\/02\/12\/privatizing-railways-gets-preliminary-nod-from-parliament\/\">earlier this month<\/a>, will also establish a new regulator to govern the private sector\u2019s involvement.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Also on the docket for today\u2019s general assembly session are amendments to the Eminent Domain Act, <\/strong>which had also received preliminary sign off but delayed due to lack of quorum.
