Tourist traffic to Egypt is expected to rise now that flights between Moscow and Cairo are officially back on after a more than two-year halt. Russian carrier Aeroflot touched down safely shortly after midnight last night<\/strong> at Cairo International Airport with 120 passengers on board, Al Shorouk reports<\/a>. EgyptAir\u2019s first flight to Moscow\u2019s Domodedovo Airport will take off at 9:35 am CLT.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s still no word on when Russia will resume flights to other destinations in Egypt,<\/strong> but the two countries are continuing to cooperate on making that happen, Russian President Vladimir Putin said yesterday, TASS reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This comes as nearly 2.2 mn tourists visited Egypt in 1Q2018,<\/strong> a 23% y-o-y increase compared to the same period last year, according to CAPMAS figures carried by Youm 7<\/a>.
