Egypt asks US to be exempted from steel tariffs:<\/strong> The Trade and Industry Ministry has requested that the US exempt its imports of Egyptian steel from tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump last month<\/a>, the head of the ministry\u2019s external trade department Saeed Abdallah tells Al Masry Al Youm<\/a>. The ministry expects to begin negotiations with the US Department of Commerce next week. Abdallah also said that the ministry is looking at measures it can take to prevent other countries affected by the US\u2019 steel tariffs \u2014 including China, Turkey, and EU countries \u2014 from dumping their products in Egypt.<\/p>\n

Separately, the ministry\u2019s Trade Remedies Authority (TRA) will recommend anti-dumping duties of 15-20% on sheet metal imports,<\/strong> sources close to the investigation tell Al Mal<\/a>. TRA (formerly the Anti-Dumping Authority) has been investigating reports of dumping practices with sheet metal imports from China, Russia, and Belgium.
