GERD talks kicking off again this week:<\/strong> The ministers of foreign affairs and irrigation, as well intelligence chiefs from Egypt, Sudan, and Ethiopia, are scheduled to meet on Wednesday and Thursday to resume talks over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD). This comes as Ethiopia is <\/strong>set to swear in<\/strong><\/a> Abiy Ahmed as <\/strong>its new prime minister<\/strong><\/a> today,<\/strong> after Hailemariam Desalegn\u2019s sudden resignation in February postponed dam negotiations. The three countries had reached a gridlock<\/a> on the dam last year, but agreed in January<\/a> to continue looking for a solution.<\/p>\n
