Tourism revenues reportedly up 83.3% y-o-y to USD 2.2 bn in 1Q2018<\/strong>, an unnamed government official told Reuters<\/a>. Tourist arrivals also grew 37.1% y-o-y to 2.38 mn visitors. Tourism in Egypt has been slowly recovering from the political upheaval and security concerns that had caused a downturn in the sector over the last several years since the 2011 uprising. Holiday bookings giant Thomas Cook had said last month<\/a> that demand for Egypt is on the rise as conditions in the country begin to stabilize.<\/p>\n
