A \u201cmarginal\u201d decline in new orders and output formed the basis for the contraction<\/strong>, \u201cwith panel members citing weaker demand. \u2026 Reductions in both output and new business were only marginal, however, and slower than their respective averages,\u201d notes the report.<\/p>\n

On a positive note, non-oil private sector business purchasing expanded for the eighth consecutive month<\/strong> during May. \u201cPanel members largely attributed the increase to planned business expansions.
