The firm\u2019s execs reportedly hope the bid \u201cbrings stability while [Abraaj] works out financial obligations with creditors,\u201d the newspaper reports. <strong>Abraaj held a <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2018-06-04\/dubai-s-abraaj-to-meet-creditors-today-to-discuss-restructuring\"><strong>meeting in Dubai yesterday with creditors<\/strong><\/a>, investors and others, saying in a news release (not available <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abraaj.com\/insights\/news\/press-releases?_sft_category=2018\">on its website<\/a> as of this morning) that a sale was discussed, but stopping short of mentioning New York-based Cerberus. Cerberus has \u201cgained the edge over Colony NorthStar, which had earlier held talks with Abraaj about buying its fund management business,\u201d the Journal adds. (You can check out <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/research\/stocks\/private\/snapshot.asp?privcapId=139449\">Cerberus\u2019 Bloomberg page here<\/a>; its website was down at dispatch time.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>#2 \u2014 Apple announced a pile of new software features for Mac and iOS yesterday, but no new hardware<\/strong> and (as expected) no \u2018tentpole\u2019 features for iOS as it focuses on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-apple-developer\/apple-focuses-on-speed-parental-controls-in-software-upgrades-idUSKCN1J02J9\">stability, speed, parental controls and smartphone addiction<\/a>. Mac lovers, in particular, will be waking to a smile this morning. Jordan\u2019s King Abdullah had demanded Mulki\u2019s resignation yesterday and has reportedly tapped the country\u2019s education minister to form a new government. President Abdel Fattah El Sisi spoke to King Abdullah on the phone yesterday to discuss unspecified issues of mutual interest, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Egy.Pres.Spokesman\/\">an Ittihadiya statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Saudi Arabia began issuing driver's licenses to women yesterday<\/strong>, three weeks ahead of a scheduled plan to allow women to get behind the wheel of a car, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2018-06-04\/urgent-first-saudi-women-receive-driving-licenses-amid-crackdown\">Bloomberg reports<\/a>. Ten women became the first in Saudi to receive licenses. The licenses were handed out with little fanfare, with very little media present.
