The House of Representatives\u2019 Budget Committee reached an agreement yesterday with Finance Minister Mohamed Maait to tax only transactions with non-affiliates, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youm7.com\/story\/2018\/7\/14\/%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A8%D8%B1%D9%84%D9%85%D8%A7%D9%86-%D9%88%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AD%D9%83%D9%88%D9%85%D8%A9-%D9%8A%D8%AA%D9%81%D9%82%D8%A7%D9%86-%D8%B9%D9%84%D9%89-%D8%A5%D8%AE%D8%B6%D8%A7%D8%B9-%D8%AA%D8%B9%D8%A7%D9%85%D9%84%D8%A7%D8%AA-%D8%B5%D9%86%D8%AF%D9%88%D9%82-%D9%85%D8%B5%D8%B1-%D9%85%D8%B9-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%BA%D9%8A%D8%B1\/3872364\">Youm7 reports<\/a>. We <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2018\/07\/15\/amended-sovereign-wealth-fund-act-ready-for-house-plenary-vote\/\">reported on Sunday<\/a> that amendments had been introduced to the bill \u2014 which will outline the functions and structure of Egypt\u2019s EGP 200 bn sovereign wealth fund \u2014 to exempt the fund from taxes for a renewable periods of four-years, right before the Planning Ministry and Budget Committee reached consensus on the final draft. The bill could go be up for a plenary session discussion any day now, but officials have given clarity on the timeline beyond Planning Minister Hala El Said saying the law would be issued by year\u2019s end.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The House also made it tougher to dodge a 2.5% tithe on real estate sales<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shorouknews.com\/news\/view.aspx?cdate=15072018&id=8f68bf3a-75c9-40ef-b9bc-42806fe20d68\">Al Shorouk reports<\/a>. MPs voted in favor of <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2018\/07\/03\/tenders-and-auctions-act-gets-renamed-as-public-contracts-act-after-receiving-preliminary-nod-from-parliaments-general-assembly\/\">amendments to the tax code<\/a> that bar property owners from basic services such as power and water until they are able to present proof that they have paid the tax.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Public transportation, traffic laws in play: <\/strong>The House is also waiting on the government to send back its draft law on public transportation, House Transport Committee deputy chair Rep. The legislation would be a prelude to installing so-called \u201cintelligent transportation systems\u201d to manage and monitor transportation networks around the country.
