Reforms are repositioning Egypt as a global investment destination, says Sahar Nasr:<\/strong> Egypt is repositioning itself \u201cas a global investment destination\u201d through its ongoing reform program, including \u201ccomprehensive improvements\u201d to the country\u2019s business climate, Investment and International Cooperation Minister Sahar Nasr said in an interview with CNBC<\/a><\/u>. Nasr highlighted efforts to cut red tape and bureaucracy to bump up FDI, including new legislation such as the Investment Act, the Bankruptcy Act, and the Companies Act.<\/p>\n

International institution have noticed we\u2019re on the right track, <\/strong>according to Nasr. She took note of several encouraging economic indicators, including unemployment dropping to 10.6%<\/a><\/u> in 1Q2018, GDP growth crossing the 5% threshold, and Egypt\u2019s balance of payments recording a surplus<\/a><\/u>. We still have a long way to go<\/strong>, Nasr acknowledged, admitting that improving private sector participation in the country\u2019s economic landscape is \u201ca work in progress.\u201d<\/p>\n
