Today is the final day of the two-day session.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"content-anchor\" id=\"tldr-story-02\"><\/a> <strong>Egyptian economic growth outstrips estimate for North Africa as a whole: <\/strong>Speaking on the sidelines of the conference, IMF Resident Representative for Egypt Reza Bakir noted that the reforms have pushed Egypt\u2019s GDP growth far ahead of the projected average for North Africa. The IMF sees Egypt\u2019s GDP growing at a 5.5% clip by the end of FY2018-19, while North Africa is projected to grow by 4.3% during the same period. Egypt is also on track to grow faster than Sub-Saharan Africa, where GDP growth for 2018 is expected to come in at 3.5%, growing marginally to 3.75% in 2019, Bakir <u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.shorouknews.com\/news\/view.aspx?cdate=05082018&id=0cbb89b7-b32a-430c-b4e8-cc719cdb102c\">told Al Shorouk<\/a><\/u>.<\/p>\n<p>Also in Sharm El Sheikh this week, the CBE is hosting the <strong>annual meeting of the Association of African Central Banks<\/strong> from 5- 9 August.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"content-anchor\" id=\"tldr-story-03\"><\/a> <strong>Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry is in Washington today<\/strong>,kicking off a two-day visit that will see him talk over issues with figures including US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, <u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/MFAEgypt\/posts\/2160481237357144\">according to a ministry statement<\/a><\/u>. Shoukry is also set to meet with White House National Security Advisor John Bolton to discuss the US\u2019 aid program to Egypt, including economic, development and military assistance. Shoukry is also expected to meet with US business leaders while in DC.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile: <strong>EgyptAir is gearing up to launch direct flights between Cairo and Washington, DC, <\/strong>EgyptAir Airlines Chairman and Managing Director Sherif Ezzat told reporters yesterday, <u><a href=\"http:\/\/www.almalnews.com\/Story\/385176\/58\/%D9%85%D8%B5%D8%B1-%D9%84%D9%84%D8%B7%D9%8A%D8%B1%D8%A7%D9%86-%D8%AA%D8%B3%D8%AA%D9%87%D8%AF%D9%81-%D8%A5%D8%B7%D9%84%D8%A7%D9%82-%D8%AE%D8%B7-%D8%AC%D9%88%D9%8A-%D8%A8%D9%8A%D9%86-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%82%D8%A7%D9%87%D8%B1%D8%A9-%D9%88%D8%A7%D8%B4%D9%86%D8%B7%D9%86\">Al Mal reports<\/a><\/u>.
