The rate applies for the first year of the program, suggesting a revision could be in the works after the initial trial period. License fees will be calculated based on the amount of gas transferred and can be settled in EGP. <strong>The regulator will be issuing permits for different types of commercial gas market activities, <\/strong>including grid operations and maintenance, supply, distribution, and shipping, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gasreg.org.eg\/license-issuance-fees\/\">with different fees set for each type as follows<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>USD 0.057\/MMBtu for transmission<\/strong> licenses;<\/li>\n<li><strong>USD 0.031\/MMBtu for shipping<\/strong> licenses;<\/li>\n<li><strong>USD 0.023\/MMBtu for distribution<\/strong> licenses;<\/li>\n<li><strong>USD 0.008\/MMBtu for supply <\/strong>licenses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Permit requests must be <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gasreg.org.eg\/procedures\/\"><strong>processed within 10 working days<\/strong><\/a><strong> of application <\/strong>and any additional documents required by the regulator must also be submitted within 10 working days. The regulator will then have 45 days to approve or deny the request and fees must be deposited within seven days of that date.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Background: <\/strong>The Oil Ministry <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2018\/07\/05\/natgas-market-regulator-to-officially-begin-issuing-import-permits\/\">had said last month<\/a> that the regulator was given the green light to begin issuing and revoking licenses for private players in the natural gas industry, a move that was made possible by the deregulation of the sector through the Natural Gas Act.<\/p>\n<p><strong>No word yet on import licenses: <\/strong>There\u2019s no word yet on when the first import license will be issued, but sources had previously said to expect the first before the end of 2018.<a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2017\/08\/17\/egas-approves-import-licenses-for-three-private-companies\/\">We had heard last year<\/a> that EGAS gave BB Energy, Fleet Energy, and Qalaa Holdings\u2019 TAQA Arabia preliminary approval on natural gas import licenses, which still need to be ratified by the new regulator.
