What we found interesting in this one is just how much of the firm\u2019s recent misfortune hinged on the USD 1.8 bn sale of a majority stake in Pakistan\u2019s K-Electric to a Chinese group in 2017.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Speaking of Actis and Abraaj, we have a tiny correction to make: <\/strong>Actis\u2019 offer to acquire some of Abraaj\u2019s assets was actually for USD 1, and not USD 1 bn as we wrote yesterday. <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2018\/09\/09\/pharos-adviser-on-sale-of-spinneys-actis-makes-usd-1-bn-offer-for-abraajs-assets\/\">The story has since been corrected on our website<\/a>. Thanks to the many readers who wrote in to point us toward the correction.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kuwait is new \u201cdarling\u201d of investors in regional equities<\/strong>, outshining neighbors Saudi Arabia and the UAE as it slowly but surely delivers a story rooted in policy liberalization, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2018-09-08\/move-over-saudi-meet-stock-investors-new-darling-in-the-gulf?srnd=premium-middle-east\">Bloomberg says<\/a>. The salmon-color paper expects the twin initiatives to be formally unveiled next week.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jack Ma is retiring: <\/strong>Jack Ma, co-founder of (arguably) the second largest ecommerce site in the world will announce a succession plan next as he prepares to hand over the title of executive chairman next year to CEO Daniel Zhang, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2018\/09\/10\/alibaba-jack-ma-succession-plan-daniel-zhang-to-take-over-as-chairman.html\">CNBC reports<\/a>.
