Executives from online retailer Jumia are meeting with ICT Ministry officials this week to discuss the government\u2019s new framework for taxing e-commerce platforms, CEO Hesham Safwat said, according to local news reports<\/a>. The company will ask that the law \u2014 which is expected to be introduced to the House of Representatives during the current legislative session \u2014 differentiate between the different types of platforms and transactions they perform. The Finance Ministry had announced earlier this year that it was planning to introduce a framework for taxing e-commerce<\/a> platforms, which would be introduced as part of amendments to the Income Tax Act.
