Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry flew yesterday to the Sudanese capital to lay the groundwork for El Sisi\u2019s trip.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Progress on GERD talks? <\/strong>The two countries, along with Ethiopia, have made \u201cprogress on reaching an agreement about the filling of the [Grand Ethiopian Renaissance] Dam (GERD),\u201d Sudanese Irrigation Minister Khader Mohamed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-sudan-ethiopia-dam\/sudan-says-progress-on-nile-dam-timeline-with-ethiopia-egypt-idUSKCN1MY2KW\">tells Reuters<\/a>. No further details were provided, but all three countries have been trying to arrive at a \u201cjoint vision\u201d for the dam\u2019s construction that would cater to their varying interests, which for Egypt would require Ethiopia to reduce the pace at which plans to fill the dam\u2019s reservoir. Last we heard, the tripartite committee overseeing the issue had <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2018\/09\/27\/gerd-talks-fail-to-reach-breakthrough-again\/\">failed to reach a breakthrough<\/a> when it met last in Addis Ababa in September.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The US trade and business delegation wraps up its visit to Egypt today<\/strong>. The business figures and government officials have had packed days of meetings in Cairo as they kick the tires on investment opportunities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>AOI signs MoU with America\u2019s Armored Group to manufacture armored vehicles in Egypt:<\/strong> The Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) signed yesterday an MoU with American armored vehicle manufacturer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.armoredcars.com\/\">the Armored Group<\/a> to manufacture armored vehicles in Egypt, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shorouknews.com\/news\/view.aspx?cdate=24102018&id=51282fd4-97eb-4c00-bb63-8d84455fbd7b\">according to Al Shorouk<\/a>.
