This will allow the government to expand access to the program to more families, he added. \u201cIt is unfair that larger families take the lion\u2019s share of cash subsidies,\u201d Madbouly stressed, noting that the move would make the subsidies program more efficient. The government had allocated funding to population control programs, including its \u201cTwo is enough\u201d campaign to incentivize people to practice birth control.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The one subsidy the government won\u2019t touch? Bread.<\/strong> One day after Madbouly\u2019s remarks on the future of the Takaful and Karama programs, Finance Minister <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ahram.org.eg\/News\/202841\/25\/682548\/%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A3%D9%88%D9%84%D9%89\/%D9%85%D8%B9%D9%8A%D8%B7-%D9%84%D8%A7-%D9%85%D8%B3%D8%A7%D8%B3-%D8%A8%D8%AF%D8%B9%D9%85-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AE%D8%A8%D8%B2-%D9%88%D9%A6%D9%A0-%D9%85%D9%84%D9%8A%D8%A7%D8%B1-%D8%AC%D9%86%D9%8A%D9%87-%D8%AA%D8%AA%D8%AD%D9%85%D9%84%D9%87%D8%A7-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%85.aspx\">Mohamed Maait told Al Ahram<\/a> that the government has no intention of cutting back on bread subsidies, \u201cregardless of the cost.\u201d The Supply Ministry is reportedly looking to begin switching to a cash subsidy system for subsidized bread as early as 1Q2019, ministry sources <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2018\/11\/12\/egypt-could-cut-citizens-earning-more-than-egp-7000-per-month-from-subsidy-rolls\/\">said earlier this month<\/a>.
