Delegation from the US Congress in Cairo: <\/strong>President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received a delegation from the Congress, headed by Senator Jerry Moran, in Cairo yesterday, according to an Ittihadiya statement<\/a>. The delegation noted Egypt\u2019s \u201cgreat contribution\u201d to regional stability and thanked the country for its role as a mediator during the Israel-Hamas ceasefire negotiations. The meeting was attended by intelligence chief Abbas Kamel and members from the Democratic and Republican parties.<\/p>\n

MEANWHILE- Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry <\/strong>called<\/a><\/strong> on EU member states to recognise the State of <\/strong>Palestine<\/strong>, which will mark an important step towards a two-state solution. This came during a meeting of Arab and EU foreign ministers in Brussels. Shoukry called for the \u201cnecessity of concerted Arab and European action\u201d to put an end to the Israeli aggression in Gaza and protect the people of Palestine. <\/p>\n

T<\/strong>he key takeaway: <\/strong>The meeting aimed to \u201crealize a just, comprehensive and lasting peace\u201d that guarantees the rights of the Palestinian people and the security of Israel and the wider region. \u201cThis will pave the way for normal relations among nations in the region,\u201d a joint statement<\/a> from Saudi Arabia and Norway said, without providing further details.<\/p>\n

Shoukry met with his <\/strong>Swedish<\/a><\/strong> and <\/strong>Spanish<\/a><\/strong> counterparts <\/strong>on the sidelines of the meeting \u2014- discussions centered around the war on Gaza.<\/p>\n

ALSO WORTH NOTING- <\/strong>Egypt and Azerbaijan have agreed to cooperate on mining, green hydrogen, and <\/strong>renewable energy during a joint committee meeting in Cairo<\/strong>, according to a statement<\/a> from the International Cooperation Ministry. Egypt will also support Azerbaijan with its climate finance efforts ahead of COP29 set to be held in the Azerbaijani capital in November.
