Geopolitical <\/strong>tensions are endangering the global growth outlook<\/strong>, Saudi Finance Minister Mohamed Al Jadaan said on Sunday<\/a> at the World Economic Forum\u2019s meetup in Riyadh. \u201cToday, to me, geopolitical risks are possibly the number one risk as you look at the global economy,\u201d he said, adding that \u201cpolicymakers will need to be very agile in dealing with this,\u201d as the threat of fragmentation and protectionism looms. \u201cYou need to make sure that you actually de-escalate,\u201d he said<\/a>, adding that the \u201cregion needs stability.\u201d<\/p>\n

The proof? Economies are growing at a rate that is \u201cweak-by-historic standards,\u201d <\/strong>IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said<\/a>. She described a slowdown in global economic activities and \u201ca significant divergence across the world\u201d as two \u201cvery serious problems\u201d that global decision makers ought to address. Georgieva said that while some countries are moving forward, others are \u201cfalling behind,\u201d without providing further details. The IMF chief said states should implement reforms that are \u201cmindful of the people,\u201d as they become \u201ctransmission lines of prosperity,\u201d when paired with health trade and financial flows.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, artificial intelligence could potentially set the tone right for global <\/strong>growth: <\/strong>Saudi Economy and Planning Minister Faisal Alibrahim said that adopting AI technologies could see<\/a> tns of USD poured into the global economy within the next decade as it ushers in new industries.<\/p>\n
