The international press is taking a brief break from reporting on Egypt\u2019s economy to <\/strong>focus on<\/strong> a forgotten literary great<\/strong>, with the New<\/a>York<\/a>Times<\/a> showcasing Egyptian author Iman Mersal\u2019s efforts to work out the mystery behind the underappreciated writer Enayat Al Zayyat in Traces of Enayat<\/a>, the English translation of which is set to hit US bookshops today. After stumbling across and buying Al Zayyat\u2019s Love and Silence by chance thirty years ago in a Cairo market, Mersal has been captivated by the unacknowledged author from Egypt\u2019s post-1952 revolution golden era for literature who ended her life in 1963 after having her manuscript rejected from a publisher.<\/p>\n
