El Maghraby enters the role following nearly eight years as the vice chairman of Banque Misr, preceded by an 11-year stint as the corporate bank head of Citibank Egypt. He is taking over from Hussein Refaie (<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/hussein-refaie-8b554140\/?originalSubdomain=eg\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">LinkedIn<\/a>), who led Suez Canal Bank for nearly seven years after serving as the CFO of the National Bank of Egypt, Barclays Egypt (now Attijariwafa Bank), and Citibank.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>We knew this was happening: <\/strong>A source with knowledge of the matter <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/e7f78e9e-1f68-46b8-9e63-641e629fd0d7\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">told<\/a> Enterprise last week about El Maghraby\u2019s move to the Suez Canal Bank as part of a wider leadership shuffle at a number of state-owned banks. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Other upcoming leadership changes we\u2019re keeping an eye for that are yet to be <\/strong><strong>confirmed:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Al Baraka Bank Vice Chairman and CEO <strong>Hazem Hegazy<\/strong> is expected to take the reins at <strong>Banque du Caire<\/strong>, where he was previously executive vice-chairman.<\/li>\n<li>AAIB Vice Chairman and Managing Director <strong>Tamer <\/strong><strong>Waheed<\/strong>is expected to be named the next MD of the <strong>National Bank of Egypt<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>EGBank Vice Chairman and CEO <strong>Nidal Assar<\/strong> is expected to run <strong>Banque Misr<\/strong>.
