This includes EGP 134 bn for commodity subsidies, more than EGP 147 bn to subsidize fuel products, and north of EGP 40 bn for its Takaful and Karama social safety programs, Maait said. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>How does this compare to the current fiscal year?<\/strong> The government\u2019s <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/a3ab6ab6-4c7d-4e04-a322-4b5b202f592a\/here%25e2%2580%2599s-the-government%25e2%2580%2599s-fiscal-plan-for-fy-2023-2024\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">budget for FY 2023-24<\/a> penciled in EGP 127.7 bn for food subsidies, and EGP 119.4 bn for fuel subsidies. Takaful and Karama were allocated EGP 31 bn for the fiscal year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The government expects to spend some EGP 3.9 tn in the upcoming fiscal year<\/strong>, while total government revenues are expected to come in at EGP 2.6 tn.
