One of the region\u2019s leading law firms is about to get a helping hand from AI: <\/strong>Our friends at Cairo-based arbitration firm Youssef + Partners<\/a> (Y+P) has signed a strategic partnership with American legal profession-focussed generative AI startup Harvey<\/a> to integrate the technology into the firm\u2019s legal practices and client services, Y+P said in a statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Harvey? <\/strong>The legal sector-focused AI company is backed by ChatGPT developer OpenAI and Silicon Valley-based VC giant Sequoia Capital<\/a>, which both contributed to Harvey\u2019s USD 80 mn series B funding rou<\/a>nd<\/a> in December. Harvey made headlines last year after partnering up with magic circle law firm \u2014 insider speak for one of the top five London-based law firms \u2014 Allen & Overy to use AI to draft contracts in what the Financial Times described<\/a> as a \u201cchallenge to [the] legal industry.\u201d The startup also sent shockwaves through the legal world when it partnered up with PwC\u2019s Legal Business Solutions in March.<\/p>\n

The details: <\/strong>Egypt\u2019s top dispute resolution law firm of 2023\u2014 according to<\/a> Chambers Middle East \u2014 will be one of the two first law firms in the region to integrate the technology to \u201cstreamline legal functions including litigation analysis, document production, research, and compliance,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n

But real, flesh and bone human lawyers won\u2019t be completely obsolete from the process:<\/strong>\u201cAll outputs without exception undergo thorough scrutiny, review and validation by Y+P attorneys, and the tool is strictly limited to use by qualified attorneys,\u201d the statement added. <\/p>\n

Watch out for more AI in the legal world: <\/strong>\u201cThe adoption of AI will become more prevalent and accessible in the legal sector across the region and the world, as we see more providers, platforms, and solutions emerge and as more awareness is spread,\u201d Youssef + Partners told Enterprise. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
