{"id":612868,"date":"2024-01-03T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-01-03T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/enterpriseam.com\/egypt\/2024\/01\/03\/abu-dhabi-government-backed-hotel-group-plans-usd-170-mn-investment-in-three-egyptian-hotels\/"},"modified":"2024-01-03T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2024-01-03T00:00:00","slug":"abu-dhabi-government-backed-hotel-group-plans-usd-170-mn-investment-in-three-egyptian-hotels","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/enterpriseam.com\/egypt\/2024\/01\/03\/abu-dhabi-government-backed-hotel-group-plans-usd-170-mn-investment-in-three-egyptian-hotels\/","title":{"rendered":"Abu Dhabi government-backed hotel group plans USD 170 mn investment in three Egyptian hotels"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"> <strong>Three hotels are getting a makeover fro<\/strong><strong>m our Emirati friends:<\/strong> The Egypt-focussed <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/adticeg.com\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Abu Dhabi Tourism Investment<\/a><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/adticeg.com\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Company<\/a> (ADTIC) that is 84% owned by the government of Abu Dhabi\u2019s <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.adfd.ae\/english\/Pages\/Home.aspx\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Abu Dhabi Fund for Development<\/a> (ADFD) plans to invest over USD 170 mn \u2014 equal to EGP 5.3 bn \u2014 into the renovation of three hotels in Hurghada, Sharm El Sheikh, and Giza, ADTIC CEO Yahya Qutb told <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/tinyurl.com\/sw6rkenk\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Al Mal<\/a> in an interview.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The breakdown:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>In Sharm:<\/strong> More than EGP 1.6 bn \u2014 roughly USD 52 mn \u2014 is earmarked to renovate the Accor-managed M\u00f6venpick Resort Sharm El Sheikh.<\/li>\n<li><strong>In<\/strong><strong>Hurghada: <\/strong>Up to USD 40 mn \u2014 which is currently equal to EGP 1.2 bn \u2014 is expected to be invested into renovating the Mercure Hurghada Resort, which will start in April and take up to 15 months to complete.<\/li>\n<li><strong>In Giza: <\/strong>Some USD 80 mn \u2014 equivalent to around EGP 2.4 bn \u2014 has been allocated to build a new hotel under the brand Sofitel Legend, which will replace the now-demolished Mercure hotel in the Giza Pyramids area. Construction will kick off before mid-2024 and is scheduled to be completed in two years at most.
