It was \u201cthe most intense day\u201d of violence in Gaza: <\/strong>Israeli forces continued their ground operations against Hamas, reaching the heart of the southern city of Khan Younis and marking the \u201cmost intense day since the beginning of the operation,\u201d according to an IDF statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n

On the ground:<\/strong> Israel launched strikes<\/a> on central Gaza\u2019s Deir Al Balah, pushing central Gaza\u2019s only operational hospital \u2014 Al Aqsa Martyrs Hospital \u2014 to its limit. The IDF claims<\/a> it has reached the heart of south Gaza\u2019s Khan Younis, the northern city of Jabaliya, and central Gaza\u2019s Shejaiya. \u201cWe intend to continue to attack and deepen the achievement,\u201d the IDF said. Meanwhile, Hamas said it killed eight Israeli fighters in clashes. <\/p>\n

It\u2019s \u201cgetting worse by the hour,\u201d <\/strong>WHO\u2019s Gaza representative Richard Peeperkorn told reporters<\/a> yesterday. \u201cWe are looking at an increasing humanitarian disaster,\u201d he added. He also criticized the little amount of aid that is reaching the city. <\/p>\n

Hopes for another truce reignited? <\/strong>Israel would consider \u201ca temporary pause\u201d to release more of its hostages being held by Hamas, Israeli government spokesman Eylon Levy told the Jerusalem Press Club (watch, runtime: 22:42<\/a>). Hamas doesn\u2019t appear to be onboard with the idea, demanding an end to the violence before hostage negotiations begin again. <\/p>\n
