Value Makers Studio\u2019s Egypt investment spree continues:<\/strong> Homegrown Arabic-language audiobook summary and education platform Akhdar<\/a> has raised a six-figure USD investment from Saudi accelerator Value Makers Studio (VMS)<\/a>, according to a statement (pdf)<\/a> from the company. <\/p>\n

What does Akhdar do? <\/strong>It\u2019s an Arabic language platform that sums up books and podcasts into short, easy-to-understand audio summaries and explainers. Their application has been installed over 2 mn times and boasts 1.5 mn users from 174 countries. The firm began life in 2016 as a YouTube channel before creating its own platform in 2020. <\/p>\n

Where is the money going?<\/strong> Akhdar will use the fresh financing to \u201csupport [Akhdar] expansion plans into the GCC region, with a particular emphasis on Saudi Arabia,\u201d said Akhdar co-founder and CEO Mohamed Osama.<\/p>\n

VMS is serious about the local edtech scene:<\/strong> Akhdar is one of three local education startups to have recently received an equity investment from VMS.
