Gulf countries are considering fresh assistance in the form of cash deposits and post-devaluation support for the EGP, according to two Cairo-based bankers. Monica Malik, chief economist at Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, added that \u201cI have felt a change in sentiment in the Gulf.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>FYI-<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>This isn\u2019t the first time we\u2019ve heard this:<\/strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/3fce7768-6487-4227-b5ef-860694c72f8a\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Chatter in the local press<\/a> last month claimed Saudi Arabia and the UAE could deposit another USD 5 bn at the CBE \u2014 but we think there\u2019s a good chance that was likely referring to the rollover of maturing portions of existing deposits.<\/li>\n<li><strong>KSA + UAE deposits already account for 60% of our FX reserves: <\/strong>About 85% of our <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/03d11741-bd73-46ed-9838-2101985eceed\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">USD 35 bn FX reserve stockpile<\/a> is made up of deposits from Arab nations. Euroclear requires that all bills and bonds issued by the Finance Ministry be exempt from tax, a condition that has been \u201ccategorically rejected\u201d by the government, according to the news outlet.
