The first draft is complete and it could be finalized and ready for public review as early as next month, a ministry official told Enterprise. The tax reform plan is currently in legal review and will be put to the business community for feedback. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Stability in tax policy and alongside clear incentives are the name of the game:<\/strong> The new policy aims to reassure investors and promote investment, our ministry source told us. Here\u2019s a rundown of what we know about the draft policy so far: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Fix<\/strong><strong>ed, much lower rates ensure sta<\/strong><strong>bility for foreign investors:<\/strong> A fix 5% wage tax rate and 10% tax on commercial profits will be used in special economic zones, replacing the previous 22.5% corporate income tax rate;<\/li>\n<li><strong>T<\/strong><strong>ax deductions for <\/strong><strong>new projects:<\/strong> Some investors will be able to claim tax deductions of 30% to 50% of spending on new projects, with the scale sliding depending on the size of the investment;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Modernization overhaul:<\/strong>The proposed tax policy will keep up to date with developments in modern tax systems and technological advancements in the economy at large, we\u2019re told.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>REMEMBER-<\/strong> Tax policy changes, including adjusting excise duties and simplifying value-added tax, are on the Madbouly government\u2019s agenda as part of its <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/edition\/am\/8ca83006-3ccb-46d0-897d-24594698af82\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">commitments to the IMF<\/a> under its USD 3 bn loan agreement. The state has been working to drum up more investment after 2022 saw <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/158188ff-65a9-4146-adc1-5f53c1a3f6e5\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">almost USD 20 bn<\/a> in outflows as rising interest rates around the world and soaring inflation triggered a global risk-off and sent Egypt\u2019s real interest rate into negative
