Among them:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>A USD 300 mn loan from <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aiib.org\/en\/index.html\"><b>the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank<\/b><\/a>to improve sanitation infrastructure in five governorates, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/EgyptianCabinet\/posts\/1146473108864386?__tn__=K-R\">according to a Cabinet statement<\/a>. The loan is part of a total of c.USD 510 mn AIIB pledged to finance infrastructure projects in Egypt, with the remaining USD 210 earmarked for a project in the Benban solar power park, AAIB said in a statement <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shorouknews.com\/news\/view.aspx?cdate=09122018&id=39bd2bd7-3818-4610-bb40-9787c81547e9\">picked up by Al Shorouk<\/a>;<\/li>\n<li><b>A USD 15 mn grant from the European Investment Bank for \u201ccommunity development projects\u201d<\/b> in underdeveloped areas near Alexandria, Port Said, Giza, Menufia, Assiut, and Sharqiya, which <a href=\"http:\/\/www.miic.gov.eg\/Arabic\/MediaCenter\/News\/Pages\/%D8%AA%D9%88%D9%82%D9%8A%D8%B9-%D9%85%D9%86%D8%AD%D8%A9-%D9%84%D8%A8%D8%B1%D9%86%D8%A7%D9%85%D8%AC-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AA%D9%86%D9%85%D9%8A%D8%A9-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%85%D8%AC%D8%AA%D9%85%D8%B9%D9%8A%D8%A9-%D8%A8%D9%82%D9%8A%D9%85%D8%A9-15-%D9%85%D9%84%D9%8A%D9%88%D9%86-%D9%8A%D9%88%D8%B1%D9%88.aspx\">according to an Investment Ministry statement<\/a>;<\/li>\n<li>An MoU between Banque Misr and the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa <a href=\"https:\/\/alborsaanews.com\/2018\/12\/09\/1159963\">to <b>provide financing or guarantees<\/b><\/a><b> for Egyptian exporters shipping their goods to Africa<\/b>;<\/li>\n<li><b>MoUs to increase investment and economic cooperation<\/b> with each of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youm7.com\/story\/2018\/12\/9\/%D9%85%D8%B5%D8%B1-%D9%88%D8%A7%D9%88%D8%BA%D9%86%D8%AF%D8%A7-%D8%AA%D9%88%D9%82%D8%B9%D8%A7%D9%86-%D9%85%D8%B0%D9%83%D8%B1%D8%A9-%D8%AA%D9%81%D8%A7%D9%87%D9%85-%D9%84%D8%AA%D8%B9%D8%B2%D9%8A%D8%B2-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B9%D9%84%D8%A7%D9%82%D8%A7%D8%AA-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A7%D8%B3%D8%AA%D8%AB%D9%85%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%8A%D8%A9\/4061715\">Uganda<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.almasryalyoum.com\/news\/details\/1349804\">Ethiopia<\/a>. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>President Abdel Fattah El Sisi announced yesterday the launch of a risk insurance fund to encourage Egyptians to invest in Africa<\/b> and \u201ccontribute to the continent\u2019s development, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Egy.Pres.Spokesman\/posts\/520814688437916?__tn__=K-R\">readout of his speech<\/a> at the Africa 2018 Forum, which wrapped up yesterday. The president also announced the establishment of a <b>separate fund to invest in Africa\u2019s information technology infrastructure<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><b>REMINDER- Egypt chairs the African Union in 2019. <\/b>The announcements come as Egypt \u201c[promotes] itself as a linchpin for intra-African trade and a model of economic reform as it prepares to chair the African Union in 2019,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/af.reuters.com\/article\/egyptNews\/idAFL8N1YE0P9\">Reuters says<\/a>.
