Death cross or no, Bank of America is the latest to declare that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/stock-market-bubble-in-volatility-bursting-in-regime-change-for-investors-bank-of-america-2018-12\">the days of low volatility are over<\/a> \u2014 with plenty of implications for investors, including a suggestion they may need to re-think buying the dip.<\/p>\n<p><b>Markets factoid of the morning: It hasn\u2019t been this bad since \u201872:<\/b> \u201cWith bond and equity markets from the United States to emerging markets all on pace to lose money this year, investors have not seen this much red on their screens since 1972, the last time no asset class returned at least 5 percent,\u201d according to Reuters, which notes that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-usa-stocks-weekahead\/licking-their-wounds-fund-managers-prep-for-rally-in-19-idUSKBN1O61AA\">some fund managers are looking at potential investments in 2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>The contrarians think 2019 looks good for emerging markets \u2014 and bad for both US equities and the USD. <\/b>These are the same people who correctly predicted the EM Zombie Apocalypse, the greenback\u2019s rally this year and the return of volatility to the US stock market. Here's what they're saying now<\/a> on Bloomberg.<\/p>\n<p><b>None of this necessarily bodes well for the notion that 2019 will be the year of tech IPOs. <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-uber-ipo\/uber-makes-confidential-filing-for-long-awaited-ipo-idUSKBN1O702G\"><b>Uber<\/b><\/a> and rival <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-lyft-ipo\/ride-hailing-firm-lyft-inc-files-for-ipo-idUSKBN1O51AA\"><b>Lyft<\/b><\/a> have filed documents for initial public offerings, and Uber\u2019s IPO is expected to be one of the five biggest of all time, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2018-12-08\/uber-is-said-to-file-confidentially-for-initial-public-offering\">Bloomberg reports<\/a> \u2014 the company was valued at USD 76 bn when it sold a stake to Toyota in September, but some see a valuation as high as USD 120 bn. Other major global tech companies thought to be planning IPOs in the new year include workplace messaging app <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/ac49321c-fa81-11e8-af46-2022a0b02a6c\"><b>Slack<\/b><\/a> (which powers Enterprise, incidentally), rental platform <b>Airbnb<\/b>, spooky data company <b>Palantir<\/b> and payments provider <b>Stripe<\/b>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/79560992-fa8c-11e8-af46-2022a0b02a6c\">Financial Times<\/a> suggests. While no details were provided, and we would\u2019ve liked some, the proposal could see Mercedes manufacture the vehicles locally for Egypt\u2019s new cities. This comes as the government looks to cooperate with the German company in the field of auto manufacturing.<\/p>\n<p><b>Rapprochement?
