A fresh bid f <\/strong> or locally-made electrolyzers in Egypt: <\/strong>Hydrogen Egypt<\/a> is partnering up with China\u2019s Peric Hydrogen Technologies<\/a> to explore the manufacturing and assembly of electrolyzers critical for green hydrogen production in Egypt, CEO Khaled Nageib (Linkedin<\/a>) told Enterprise Climate. The technical cooperation \u2014 which is still in the \u201cfeasibility stage\u201d \u2014 will see parts of the electrolyzer components sourced locally, he said. However, Peric will be providing the core component for electrolyzers \u201cat the start,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

A \u201cMade in Egypt\u201d electrolyzer next year? <\/strong> The two sides plan to kick things off by manufacturing and assembling components in Egypt, before producing a locally-made electrolyser during the first half of 2024, Hamza said. Discussions about the project \u2014 including feasibility and raising capital \u2014 will take place when a Peric delegation visits Egypt in September, he said.<\/p>\n

About Peric: <\/strong> The Hebei-headquartered company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Purification Equipment Research Institute of the China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, according to its website<\/a>. It focuses on the research, design, and manufacturing of hydrogen generation systems.<\/p>\n

The Chinese connection: <\/strong> We\u2019re expecting Energy China to soon sign a framework agreementto build a green hydrogen plant in the Suez Canal Economic Zone. The zone said in May<\/a> that the company would put pen to paper within the coming two months, a date which came and went without any announcements from either side. The planned USD 7 bn plant will produce 1.2 mn tons of green ammonia and 210k tons of green hydrogen a year.<\/p>\n
