Researchers digitize ancient manuscripts at St Catherine\u2019s: <\/b>A team of Greek researchers is photographing the 4,500 ancient manuscripts of the library at St Catherine\u2019s monastery to digitize the priceless pages, Reuters says<\/a>. The complex imaging process includes merges separate pictures in red, green, and blue light into a single, high-quality image. The team, a collaboration between the monastery, non-profit research organization Early Manuscripts Electronic Library (EMEL), and the UCLA library, is starting with Syriac and Arabic texts. It expects expect that chunk alone to take three years to complete at a cost of around USD 2.75 mn.
