Depending on how you bridge the three holidays the following week (Easter, Sham El Nessim and Labour Day), that also means we have only the equivalent of two work weeks before the start of Ramadan.<\/p>\n<p><b>With referendum banners already up across the country, it\u2019s all about the constitutional amendments this week. <\/b>Procedural and committee work on package is expected to wrap today, setting the stage for the House of Representatives\u2019 general assembly to vote on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p><b>Look for a referendum as early as next week: <\/b>House Speaker Ali Abdel Aal has said citizens could go to the polls as early as 22-24 April. We have more in this morning\u2019s Speed Round, below.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"content-anchor\" id=\"tldr-story-07\"><\/a> <b>It\u2019s official: You\u2019re paying the 0.25% healthcare levy on your top line, and you have until 12 July to remit payment. <\/b>The Finance Ministry <a href=\"https:\/\/ent.news\/2019\/4\/106.pdf\">has issued a document (pdf)<\/a> outlying some of the broad points of the health levy designed to fund the Universal Healthcare Act. The six-point document reaffirms that the tax is 0.25% of all revenues by all businesses, declaring that you must declare your due healthcare tithe by 12 July 2019. The document, on <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2019\/04\/11\/finance-ministry-issues-regulations-of-healthcare-tithe-for-current-tax-season\/\">which we first reported on Thursday<\/a>, also gives the broad strokes on how outliers will be taxed, including for insurance businesses, businesses that rely on commissions, and hotel management companies.<\/p>\n<p><b>Also coming up this week week:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A delegation of <b>21 Hungarian companies will arrive in Cairo<\/b> to explore investment options on Tuesday.<\/li>\n<li>The two-day <a href=\"https:\/\/www.metalbulletin.com\/events\/north-africa-iron-and-steel-conference\/details.html\"><b>North Africa Iron and Steel Conference<\/b><\/a> gets underway at the Four Seasons Nile Plaza, also on Tuesday.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2019-01-14\/opec-leaves-market-guessing-as-it-struggles-to-set-meeting-date\"><b>OPEC+ oil ministers will meet<\/b><\/a>in Vienna on 17-18 April to discuss an extension to the oil supply cuts.<\/li>\n<li><b>Keep a close eye on US corporate earnings this week<\/b>, with <b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2019\/04\/12\/get-ready-for-companies-to-tell-you-more-about-the-economy.html\">dozens of companies<\/a><\/b> in a range of industries set to report.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"web-image\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ent.news\/2019\/4\/426.jpg?ssl=1\"><\/p>\n<p><b>The IMF is sounding a bit more positive: Global economic growth will \u201cfirm up\u201d in 2020 <\/b>despite the current slowdown, the IMF said in its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imf.org\/en\/News\/Articles\/2019\/04\/13\/communique-of-the-thirty-ninth-meeting-of-the-imfc\">closing communique<\/a> yesterday at the end of the spring meeting. That said, the downside risks are many: trade tensions, political instability and high debt levels all pose varying levels of risks to global growth.<\/p>\n<p><b>Have things really improved over the past few months, despite the IMF\u2019s occasionally ominous warnings? <\/b>\u201cThe world is in a different place from where it was at the end of last year,\u201d Angel Ubide, head of economic research for fixed global income at Citadel, told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/2338d2cc-5e16-11e9-b285-3acd5d43599e\">the FT<\/a>. \u201cThe US-China trade conflict is now less of a concern, and the global economy is getting a boost from the U-turn in monetary policy. Tightening is now off the agenda for a long while.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr class=\"grey-line\">\n<p><b>Jumia shares <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/qz.com\/africa\/1594036\/jumia-ipo-shares-up-more-than-50\/\"><b>popped 75%<\/b><\/a><b> on the online marketplace\u2019s first day as a publicly traded company. <\/b>Jumia is the first African tech startup to IPO on the New York Stock Exchange. We have more in this morning\u2019s Spotlight, below.<\/p>\n<p><b>Shocker: Fund managers are spending a lot less on research in the wake of Mifid II<\/b>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/a4de8088-378d-3e39-bc6c-0efe736239a8\">Financial Times<\/a> reports, saying anecdotal evidence suggests buyside spending on research from brokerage houses is down as an average of 30%.<\/p>\n<p><b>ExxonMobil is in talks to build a floating LNG facility that would expand Israel\u2019s export reach<\/b>, sources close to the matter <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2019-04-10\/exxon-is-said-in-talks-over-floating-lng-partnership-in-israel\">told Bloomberg<\/a>.
