The government has been in <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2017\/12\/14\/el-nasr-automotive-revives-talks-with-foreign-partners-to-restart-operations\/\">on-again-off-again talks<\/a> with various foreign companies in the last few years in hopes of resurrecting the defunct Nasser-era car manufacturer. This comes as Nissan\u2019s chairman in Africa, the Middle East, and India Peyman Kargar <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2019-03-19\/nissan-looks-to-capture-pole-position-in-egypt-and-gulf-by-2022\">told Bloomberg<\/a> that the company is looking to increase its output from its factory in Egypt to 28,000 vehicles, from 22,000 units, in the coming fiscal year.
