The interviews have been condensed and edited for clarity and are presented \u201cas told to.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s participants are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Amr Allam<\/b>, CEO, Hassan Allam Holding<\/li>\n<li><b>Mohamed El Kalla<\/b>, CEO, CIRA<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Yesterday\u2019s interviews included <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2019\/02\/03\/osama-bishai-ceo-orascom-construction\/\">Osama Bishai<\/a> (Orascom Construction), and <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2019\/02\/03\/dr-hend-el-sherbini-ceo-idh\/\">Hend El Sherbini<\/a> (IDH).<\/p>\n<p>Their interviews begin after Egypt in the News and On the Front Pages, below.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"grey-line\">\n<p><b>It looks like we might be getting the next IMF disbursement soon:<\/b> The IMF\u2019s executive board <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imf.org\/external\/NP\/SEC\/bc\/eng\/index.aspx?sort=country&year=\">will meet today<\/a> to decide on the fifth USD 2 bn tranche of Egypt\u2019s USD 12 bn extended fund facility. IMF chief Christine Lagarde praised Egypt\u2019s reforms <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2019\/01\/27\/egypt-on-imf-boards-agenda-in-coming-weeks-lagarde-says\/\">last week<\/a>, saying that she would recommend that the board approve the recently completed review. Egypt has signaled that it is unlikely to ask the IMF for another facility when the current program expires.<\/p>\n<p><b>Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry is in Brussels today <\/b>for talks with other European and Arab foreign ministers. The meeting comes in preparation for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.consilium.europa.eu\/en\/meetings\/international-summit\/2019\/02\/24-25\/\">EU-Arab League summit<\/a> which will take place in Sharm El Sheikh on February 24-25. The meeting could see the unveiling of a plan for EU countries to provide aid to Egypt and other regional countries in exchange for stepping up efforts to halt the flow of illegal migrants to Europe.<\/p>\n<p><b>The Markit \/ Emirates NBD purchasing managers\u2019 index for January will be out tomorrow<\/b>. The gauge, which measures non-oil business activity in Egypt, recorded 49.6 in <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2019\/01\/13\/non-oil-business-activity-in-egypt-contracts-for-fourth-consecutive-month-but-at-a-slower-pace\/\">the December survey<\/a>, failing to break a four-month-long contraction.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.egyptbuildmat.com\/\"><b>Egypt Building Materials Summit<\/b><\/a><b> takes place on Thursday<\/b> at the Nile Ritz Carlton. The event brings together construction industry investors, developers, policymakers, service providers and consultants, and over a dozen of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.egyptbuildmat.com\/2019-speakers\/\">keynote speakers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"grey-line\">\n<p><b>TECH READ- <\/b><b>Venture capital investors are urging their tech startups to have more cash in the bank<\/b> \u201cto make sure they can weather any situation,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/44c3564c-231f-11e9-8ce6-5db4543da632\">FT reports<\/a>. General worries about economic instability and stock market volatility have fed investor fears that larger companies could cut tech spending. And there\u2019s a worry that new funding rounds will become harder to raise. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/282bd084-12a0-11e9-a581-4ff78404524e\">Softbank<\/a>\u2019s January decision to slash its planned investment in WeWork to USD 2 bn from USD 16 bn is a prime example, the salmon-colored paper says. As comparisons to 2008 abound, several investors have warned that startups founded in the last ten years have only ever operated within a strong economy. They\u2019re now advising them to keep cash on hand to cover 18 to 24 months of spending \u2014 double what was recommended a year ago.<\/p>\n<p><b>US earnings season looks good for Big Oil: <\/b>2018 was a great year for western oil giants despite the 38% plunge in oil prices in the final quarter, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/big-oil-companies-finished-2018-strong-despite-plunge-in-oil-prices-11549031069\">WSJ reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Great MbS Purge rustles up USD 107 bn from 87 businessmen:<\/b> An anti-corruption commission headed up by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has reported that some USD 107 bn in cash, real estate, companies and securities has been recovered from 87 individuals. This comes 15 months after MBS <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2017\/nov\/06\/how-saudi-elite-became-five-star-prisoners-at-the-riyadh-ritz-carlton\">famously detained<\/a> many of the country\u2019s most senior business leaders in the Riyadh Ritz-Carlton on charges of corruption. Reporting that those held \u201chave been trickling out of prison for more than a year,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2019-02-02\/freed-saudis-resurface-billions-poorer-after-prince-s-crackdown?srnd=premium-middle-east\">Bloomberg charts<\/a> the fall in fortune of four of the country\u2019s wealthiest people, including Alwaleed bin Talal, whose net worth (as KSA\u2019s richest person) has been reduced by almost one-fifth since his imprisonment.<\/p>\n<p><b>It was Super Bowl Sunday overnight in the US of A<\/b>. The New England Patriots held off the LA Rams 13-3, tying the Pats with the Pittsburgh Steelers for the most NFL titles held by any team.
