Perhaps the most personally meaningful story for many readers is the very welcome news that the pay-to-settle program for folks with unfulfilled military service obligations is now live.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\">^^ We have more on all of these stories below.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong> FROM THE RUMOR MILL- <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"> <strong> #1- Agthia no longer eyeing Safi? <\/strong> ADQ-owned food company Agthia is no longer looking to acquire <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/053a8175-6db9-4185-ab3d-520dc017ac28\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">military-owned bottled drinks firm Safi<\/a>, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.shorouknews.com\/news\/view.aspx?cdate=12082023&id=03402d87-3979-48d5-8d7b-d2e576fba980\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Al Shorouk<\/a> reported Saturday, citing what it said were unnamed sources. Agthia was said in May to be among the bidders for Safi, which is on deck to sell a minority stake sale under the government\u2019s privatization program, a source close to the transaction confirmed to Enterprise at the time. An Agthia spokesperson yesterday told us the company doesn\u2019t comment on \u201crumors and speculation about Agthia\u2019s acquisition activity in the Egyptian market,\u201d noting that while 10% of the company\u2019s Egyptian revenues come from exports, \u201cour plan is to significantly grow our export business.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong> What Agthia like about Egypt: <\/strong>The country \u201cremains a strategically important market for us, not only considering the favorable long-term socio-demographics and structural demand for protein, coffee, and snacking products, but increasingly as a cost-efficient manufacturing hub for key regional and international export markets,\u201d the company told us.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"> <strong> #2- India\u2019s ReNew Power could break ground on its <\/strong><strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/0f2251cd-82db-4ba9-9ef9-b1287b0bef1f\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">USD 8 bn green<\/a><\/strong><strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/0f2251cd-82db-4ba9-9ef9-b1287b0bef1f\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">hydrogen<\/a><\/strong><strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/0f2251cd-82db-4ba9-9ef9-b1287b0bef1f\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">plant<\/a><\/strong><strong> in the Suez Canal Economic Zone early next year <\/strong>, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3OADv2S\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Al Shorouk<\/a> writes, citing what it says is a government source. The plant should take some six years to complete, the source added.
