Gulf equities closed in the red yesterday as tensions between Washington and Iran grew, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2019-06-23\/most-gulf-stocks-drop-as-u-s-iran-tensions-dominate-inside-em?srnd=premium-middle-east\">Bloomberg reports<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><b>Ethiopia\u2019s government put down an attempted coup in the country\u2019s northern Amhara region<\/b>, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said on national television. News followed that the army\u2019s chief of staff and the governor of the Amhara region were killed in related attacks, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/aponline\/2019\/06\/23\/world\/africa\/ap-af-ethiopia-unrest-the-latest.html\">according to AP<\/a>. The failed coup was reportedly led by a high-ranking military officer.<\/li>\n<li><b>Turkey\u2019s main opposition party won the mayoral race in Istanbul \u2014 again <\/b>\u2014 in what <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-turkey-election\/blow-to-turkeys-erdogan-as-opposition-wins-big-in-istanbul-idUSKCN1TO010\">the international press<\/a> is positioning as a key loss President Tayyip Erdogan. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr class=\"grey-line\">\n<p><b>Could your professional decline be rather more imminent than you thought?<\/b> A sobering thought, but according to this long read <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/magazine\/archive\/2019\/07\/work-peak-professional-decline\/590650\/\">by social scientist Arthur C. Brooks in the Atlantic<\/a>, it almost certainly is, with studies showing most of us will start a career in earnest at 30, peak around 50 and go into decline soon after that.
