The CBE\u2019s buying price, meanwhile, slipped below EGP 17 on Wednesday. Analysts have suggested the EGP has strengthened this year on the back of <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2019\/01\/29\/why-did-the-egp-gain-against-the-greenback-yesterday\/\">higher foreign inflows in government debt<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Watch this space: Banking Act. <\/b>The proposed overhaul of the Banking and Central Bank Act is due to be introduced in the House of Representatives by the end of this month, according to state-owned news agency MENA in a piece picked up by <a href=\"http:\/\/english.ahram.org.eg\/NewsContent\/1\/64\/331810\/Egypt\/Politics-\/New-banking-bill-to-be-referred-to-parliament-befo.aspx\">Ahram Online<\/a>. The story is short on detail, but a couple of provisions are worth keeping an eye on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The act will set rules on fair competition and \u201cmonopoly prevention\u201d;<\/li>\n<li>It will also \u201cregulate the trade of digital currencies,\u201d suggesting the CBE may be ready to deal with cryptocurrency.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>A handful of other things to pencil into your diaries:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>UK trade secretary visit: <\/b>British International Trade Secretary Liam Fox will be in Cairo on 27-28 May to talk trade and investment, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/MFAEgypt\/posts\/2765633013508627\">Foreign Ministry statement<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><b>SWF boss: <\/b>We could finally find out who will be helming our sovereign wealth fund by the end of June. The UAE <b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-saudi-oil-emirates-tanker-ministry\/uae-calls-for-arab-unity-at-critical-time-after-tanker-attacks-idUSKCN1SO0RU?il=0\">welcomed<\/a><\/b> the Saudi summit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr class=\"grey-line\" \/>\n<p><b>Emerging markets had a week to forget:<\/b> EM bonds, equities and currencies had a terrible week last week as the effects of the US-China trade war continue to be felt around the world. Deliveroo has already raised USD 1.53 bn and will use the latest capital injection to further expand its team and network. Amazon\u2019s decision to invest will put it in direct competition with Uber\u2019s food delivery arm UberEats. T Rowe Price, Fidelity Management and Greenoaks will join Amazon, Deliveroo said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p><b>The news could come at a better time for Uber,<\/b> which is still reeling from its \u201ctrain wreck\u201d IPO last week.
