Under the current stipulations of the contract, Noble and Delek would export 7 bcm annually by 2020, with half of that amount subject to potential interruptions during peak times or under adverse conditions. The Israeli partners are now looking to supply about 4.5 bcm of non-interruptible gas next year and reach 7 bn \u201clater,\u201d according to Abu. People familiar with the matter told Bloomberg that they are considering ramping up exports to 5.5 bn in 2021 and 7 bn in 2022.<\/p>\n<p><b>Israeli gas exports to Egypt shall begin within four months<\/b>, <a href=\"https:\/\/af.reuters.com\/article\/egyptNews\/idAFL8N24P3LM\">Israeli Energy Minister Yuval Steinitz told Reuters<\/a>. An agreement to buy stakes in the East Mediterranean Gas Company\u2019s pipeline between Ashkelon in Israel and El-Arish in Sinai will be completed \u201cwithin weeks\u201d and more connections could be built between them, according to Steinitz.<\/p>\n<p><b>Background: <\/b>Delek and its US-based partner Noble Energy partnered together last year with other Israeli energy companies to form <a href=\"https:\/\/www.calcalistech.com\/ctech\/articles\/0,7340,L-3763398,00.html\">the Tamar Gas Consortium<\/a>. The consortium then signed a <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2018\/02\/20\/dolphinus-reportedly-signs-usd-15-bn-natural-gas-agreement-with-israel\/\">USD 15 bn<\/a> agreement to supply Alaa Arafa-led Dolphinus Holding with gas from each of the Leviathan and Tamar gas fields. Trial shipments from Israel\u2019s Tamar and Leviathan gas fields were <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2019\/03\/18\/egypts-imports-of-israeli-gas-delayed-to-mid-2019-due-to-pipeline-doubts\/\">originally supposed to come in March<\/a> of this year, but <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2019\/02\/12\/all-set-for-israeli-gas-coming-to-egypt-except-one-little-thing-israel-has-no-enough-pipeline-capacity\/\">capacity restrictions posed by Israel\u2019s domestic pipeline network<\/a> meant that the imports had to be delayed. Delek then <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2019\/06\/03\/delek-hopes-to-start-gas-exports-to-egypt-by-the-end-of-june\/\">announced last month<\/a> that it would begin commercial natural gas sales to Egypt by the end of June. According to Steinitz, the holdup was a result of Israel\u2019s \u201ccomplex regulatory regime,\u201d but tells Reuters that the causes for delay are mostly resolved.<\/p>\n<p><b>Meanwhile, everyone is gearing up for the East Med Gas forum today.<\/b> Oil Minister Tarek El Molla met yesterday with US Secretary of Energy Rick Perry, who will be attending the forum as a monitor, and discussed increasing cooperation and US investments in Egypt, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mubasher.info\/news\/3507634\/%D9%88%D8%B2%D9%8A%D8%B1-%D8%A3%D9%85%D8%B1%D9%8A%D9%83%D9%8A-%D9%86%D8%B3%D8%AA%D9%87%D8%AF%D9%81-%D8%B2%D9%8A%D8%A7%D8%AF%D8%A9-%D8%A7%D8%B3%D8%AA%D8%AB%D9%85%D8%A7%D8%B1%D8%A7%D8%AA%D9%86%D8%A7-%D8%A8%D9%85%D8%B5%D8%B1-%D9%84%D8%AA%D8%B9%D8%B2%D9%8A%D8%B2-%D8%AF%D9%88%D8%B1%D9%87%D8%A7-%D9%83%D9%85%D8%B1%D9%83%D8%B2-%D9%84%D9%84%D8%B7%D8%A7%D9%82%D8%A9\">according to Mubasher<\/a>.
