The Supply Ministry has purchased nearly 3.3 mn tonnes of wheat worth EGP 15 bn from local farmers since the beginning of the harvest season in mid-April, Assistant Minister Wael Abbas said, according to Al Masry Al Youm<\/a>. The purchase came at an average price of EGP 670 per ardib (EGP 4,545 per tonne). Supply Minister Ali El Moselhy had previously said his ministry plans to procure 3.6 mn tonnes of wheat from local farmers this season.<\/p>\n
