Speaking at the Egyptian-Japanese Business Forum yesterday, deputy chairman of the Egyptian-Japanese Business Council Mohamed Abul Enein said the industrial zone would \u201cbring about a big leap in relations\u201d between the countries, and help Japan penetrate markets in Africa, Europe and the Middle East. The proposal was first floated by a Japanese business delegation <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2019\/03\/11\/japan-considers-establishing-industrial-zone-in-suez-gulf-area\/\">during a visit to Cairo in March<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>El Sisi meets Abe, JICA boss:<\/b> President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met yesterday with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on the sidelines of the conference, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Egy.Pres.Spokesman\/posts\/675645009621549?__tn__=-R\">an Ittihadiya statement<\/a>. The two leaders discussed Japan\u2019s trade with and investments in Africa, including the projects it is financing in Egypt, as well as regional issues. The president <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Egy.Pres.Spokesman\/photos\/a.153526355166753\/675781449607905\/?type=3&theater\">also met with<\/a> Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) President Shinichi Kitaoka to discuss initiatives to benefit Egypt\u2019s higher education system. JICA has recently stepped up its activity in Egypt, providing finance for a number of projects including the government\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2019\/05\/28\/jica-promises-usd-250-mn-in-finance-for-egypts-universal-health-insurance-scheme\/\">universal healthcare scheme<\/a>, a <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2019\/08\/06\/nrea-to-offer-tender-for-solar-energy-plant-in-hurghada\/\">solar plant in Hurghada<\/a>, and an <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2019\/06\/18\/egypt-japan-sign-usd-18-mn-grant-agreement-for-cairo-childrens-hospital\/\">expansion of a children\u2019s hospital<\/a> in Cairo.<\/p>\n<p><b>El Sisi <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Egy.Pres.Spokesman\/posts\/675776722941711?__tn__=-R\"><b>gave a speech<\/b><\/a><b> at the conference about the importance of investing in Africa<\/b> and driving development and technological advancements throughout the continent. He stressed that developing the content requires working on countries\u2019 infrastructure, capitalizing on the continental freetrade zone, and creating more jobs, particularly for the youth. El Sisi, who is attending the summit both as the president of Egypt and as the chairman of the African Union, also called on international financial institutions to provide sustainable financing to support this development.<\/p>\n<p><b>Elsewedy, Toyota sign agreement for Zambia solar plant:<\/b> Separately, Elsewedy Electric and Toyota Tsusho Corporation signed an agreement yesterday to construct two photovoltaic power plants with a combined production capacity of 50 MW in Zambia, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/MIICEgypt\/posts\/2265036253543630\">an Investment Ministry statement<\/a>.
