<\/a> Media, human rights and the Egypt-US relationship are together leading the conversation on Egypt in the foreign press.<\/b> A rare op-ed by New York Times publisher<\/a> A.G. Sulzberger calls into question whether the administration of US President Donald Trump would have provided assistance to the paper\u2019s Cairo bureau chief, Declan Walsh, who was reportedly set to be detained two years ago. The Trump Administration is said to have known of the threat of arrest and sat on the information. Meanwhile, the Committee to Protect Journalists <\/b>is calling on<\/b><\/a> authorities to release Egyptian journalists<\/b> said to have been detained while covering protests last weekend, and not to restrict access to news and social media sites. Amnesty International<\/a> also issued a statement calling on world leaders to bring up the matter with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi during the ongoing UN General Assembly meetings.<\/p>\n
