<\/a> US President Donald Trump extended his support to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi amid the recent protests<\/b> during a meeting yesterday on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, according to Reuters<\/a>. Egypt has a great leader.\u201d Asked about the weekend events, El Sisi directly attributed the protests to \u201cpolitical Islam.\u201d<\/p>\n

The two also discussed \u201creinforcing peace and stability in the Middle East\u201d <\/b>and \u201cways to revive\u201d the Palestinian-Israeli peace process,as well as economic reform and cooperation and bolstering the activity of American companies in Egypt<\/b>, according to an Ittihadiya statement<\/a>. El Sisi pledged to make it easier for US companies to do business in Egypt during a dinner hosted by the American Chamber on Sunday, the presidency said<\/a>.<\/p>\n

El Sisi separately gave global leaders a rundown on his administration\u2019s healthcare initiatives<\/b>, including the \u201c100 mn healthy lives\u201d initiative and the elimination of surgical waitlists during the General Assembly high-level meeting on universal health coverage, according to a transcript of his speech<\/a> released by Ittihadiya.<\/p>\n

Meetings with other leaders:<\/b> El Sisi also met with European leaders, including Italy\u2019s Prime Minster Giuseppe Conte, with whom he discussed the ongoing investigation into the murder of Italian PhD student Giulio Regeni, according to a statement<\/a>. The two also touched on illegal immigration and other regional issues.
