Nearly all of the economists surveyed in our interest rate poll (which you\u2019ll find in this morning\u2019s Speed Round, below) agree that the central bank could move ahead with more monetary easing, taking comfort from unexpectedly low August inflation figures.<\/p>\n<p><b>A rate cut would be in line with the wider policy stance across emerging markets<\/b>, with the appetite for monetary easing <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2019\/09\/17\/what-were-tracking-on-17-september-2019\/\">seeming on the march<\/a> in Russia, Brazil, China, and the Czech Republic. And that\u2019s to say nothing of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2019\/09\/20\/business\/fed-rate-cut.html\">US Federal Reserve<\/a> and European Central Bank\u2019s back-to-back rate cuts\u2026<\/p>\n<hr class=\"grey-line\">\n<p><b>President Abdel Fattah El Sisi landed yesterday in New York City, where he is set to attend high-level meetings at the United Nations General Assembly<\/b>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Egy.Pres.Spokesman\/posts\/691975537988496?__xts__%5b0%5d=68.ARC2tOk12YbOmFZDYC_XhFtiC1FzA5lpQdiHpw4z_TKNXoZSogVqfCpwNlH0x97X5x0VncFne4rOqokRpCgzRkGu5Zh78n3TCBn-ApTAxZgaIX4S7YYHHa92zLnHK3I6wwzl4d0oRLB-9aloO_IaAo6Md1WRNeCzh_db2OsLaB32fowlDQe01-BO3W-dxTdI5O0yqmhX5Bi9HXdZBBSYMBpRHd4nnecJ7tkblLbQ9xBalTsbJ_Z8TQNVHL-Fu18kh7YuuyvERR-an2X-9RYzE43ovVpAqsD9kf1S3qTLoQXXvvcAvIGIvIsZ0Tc94hwbMy5WtBB44CRc36EJYEukwes&__tn__=-R\">according to an Ittihadiya statement<\/a>. You can check out the full schedule of events set to take place over in the Big Apple <a href=\"https:\/\/undocs.org\/A\/73\/895\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Conference season continues this week:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>\u201cThe Future of Investment in Egypt,\u201d <\/b>a conference organized by the Egyptian Businessmen\u2019s Association, the Egyptian Junior Business Association and the Alexandria Business Association, will take place tomorrow at the Cairo Marriott Hotel.<\/li>\n<li><b>The Engineering Export Council of Egypt\u2019s three-day <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/press.us9.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=3f7bc576715ca1a70edef2788&id=58ddd508c9&e=b1f7fa86d8\"><b>Home Appliance and Tableware Show (HATS)<\/b><\/a> will begin tomorrow at the Kempinski Royal Maxim.<\/li>\n<li><b>A roundtable discussion titled <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/TheMediaAvenue\/photos\/a.2398653280421443\/2520079818278788\/?type=3&theater\"><b>\u201cInvesting in Renewable Energy and Sustainable Development\u201d<\/b><\/a>will take place at the Nile Ritz Carlton on Tuesday.<\/li>\n<li><b>The launch of the Mediterranean Business Angels Network<\/b> will take place at the international investment and entrepreneurship event, <a href=\"https:\/\/press.us9.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=3f7bc576715ca1a70edef2788&id=6f1cf99c74&e=b1f7fa86d8\">Techne Summit 2019<\/a>, on 28-30 September in Bibliotheca in Alexandria.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr class=\"grey-line\">\n<p><b>Glossing over oil facility attacks, Aramco hires IPO bookrunners:<\/b> Saudi Aramco has reportedly tapped UBS Group and Deutsche to act as bookrunners for its upcoming IPO, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-saudi-aramco-banks\/saudi-aramco-hires-ubs-deutsche-as-bookrunners-for-its-ipo-sources-idUSKBN1W608C\">Reuters reports<\/a>, citing two unnamed sources with knowledge of the matter. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2019-09-20\/aramco-said-to-add-barclays-bnp-deutsche-ubs-as-bookrunners-k0sj3mwq\">Bloomberg separately reported<\/a> that the state-owned oil giant is also enlisting Barclays and BNP Paribas to hawk shares. The move is seen as a sign that the company is pushing ahead with the IPO despite recent drone attacks on two of its facilities, which <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2019\/09\/16\/what-were-tracking-on-16-september-2019\/\">hit 50% of its production<\/a> and disrupted around 5% of the global oil supply.<\/p>\n<p><b>Wealthy Saudis are being pressured by the government to take anchor positions in Aramco<\/b> as it prepares to go public, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/e9fe2862-dada-11e9-8f9b-77216ebe1f17\">the FT reports<\/a>. Four sources with knowledge of the talks spoke of a plan to \u201cstrong-arm,\u201d \u201ccoerce\u201d and \u201cbully\u201d rich families to buy into the company, many of which <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2017\/12\/21\/saudi-authorities-continue-to-question-arrest-individuals-in-corruption-crackdown\/\">had members imprisoned at the Riyadh Ritz-Carlton in 2017<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>But tourism in the kingdom will soon be possible:<\/b> Saudi Arabia will announce the launch of electronic tourist visas on 27 September, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/77196b70-da0a-11e9-8f9b-77216ebe1f17\">according to the FT<\/a>. Muslim pilgrims can get permission to visit Saudi Arabia for Hajj, but currently only citizens of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, and the UAE can travel freely to the country for tourism.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"grey-line\">\n<p><b>Former Tunisian leader Zine El Abidine Ben Ali has died in exile<\/b> at the age of 83 after battling prostate cancer for years, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2019\/sep\/19\/zine-al-abidine-ben-ali-tunisian-autocrat-ousted-in-arab-spring-dies-in-exile\">according to the Guardian<\/a>. Ben Ali ruled Tunisia for 23 years before being deposed in 2011. He was convicted by a Tunisian court on multiple counts in absentia in 2011, having fled to Saudi Arabia following his resignation. His lawyer said that his body will be transferred to Mecca, pending the family\u2019s decision on burial arrangements.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"grey-line\">\n<p><b>WeWork is a highly problematic organization that still has a future \u2014 despite what critics may say,<\/b> writes Philip Delves Broughton, author of \u201cWhat They Teach You at Harvard Business School,\u201d in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/5c51209a-dad1-11e9-9c26-419d783e10e8\">the Financial Times<\/a>. With the company delaying its IPO and the news that its USD 47 bn valuation has now reportedly shrunk to around USD 15 bn, it may be tempting to count it as down and out. It also has a \u2014 to put it mildly \u2014 highly unorthodox working culture, where it spends almost twice what it makes in annual revenue and talks about \u201celevating the world\u2019s consciousness\u201d and \u201coperationalizing love.\u201d But the company has 834 locations either open or soon to open in 126 cities around the world, its revenue in 2018 was USD 1.9 bn and it has over 12k employees, meaning that it can\u2019t be written off just yet.<\/p>\n<p class=\"web-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/energy-and-environment\/2019\/9\/20\/20875523\/youth-climate-strike-fridays-future-photos-global\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ent.news\/2019\/9\/3273.jpg?ssl=1\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a class=\"content-anchor\" id=\"tldr-story-06\"><\/a> <b>Friday\u2019s Global Climate Strikes<\/b>,inspired by 16-year-old climate activist Greta Thunberg,<b> may well be the largest mass protest for action on global warming in history<\/b>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/energy-and-environment\/2019\/9\/20\/20876143\/climate-strike-2019-september-20-crowd-estimate\">Vox reports<\/a>. (<b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/u-s-imposes-sanctions-on-iranian-national-bank-11568990939\">Wall Street Journal<\/a><\/b>)<\/li>\n<li><b>No US-China trade agreement before 2020 election?<\/b> President Donald Trump said on Friday that he does not need to strike a trade agreement with China before the 2020 US presidential election. (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2019\/09\/20\/trump-says-he-doesnt-need-a-trade-deal-with-china-before-the-2020-election.html\">CNBC<\/a>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr class=\"grey-line\">\n<p><b>It doesn\u2019t get more 1984 than this \u2014 it\u2019s not enough they\u2019re taking your private data from your phone, tech giants are using your Smart TV:<\/b> Smart TVs are sending sensitive user data to companies including Netflix, Google and Facebook, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/23ab2f68-d957-11e9-8f9b-77216ebe1f17\">according to the Financial Times<\/a>. The companies receive, at the very least, information about the device people are using, their locations, and possibly even when they are interacting with it, which means they can tell when you\u2019re home and when you\u2019re not.
