El Sisi will represent the African Union during the event, which will also see Egypt\u2019s Investment Ministry sign a EUR 154 mn loan to support renewable energy, water management, waste recycling, and technical education.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The president will hold talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel at some point this week (although we\u2019re still not sure when): <\/strong>Libya is expected to feature heavily in the talks following <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2019\/11\/17\/el-sisi-germanys-merkel-discuss-libya-in-phone-call-6377\/\">a phone call<\/a> between the two leaders over the weekend. Germany recently <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/ceb35c98786e442e829017f5ea966d9b\">urged countries<\/a> to end foreign interference in the war-torn country, a call that was partly aimed at Egypt, which has been funding Libyan General Khalifa Haftar\u2019s eastern forces. Germany, meanwhile, supports the UN-backed government in Tripoli.<\/p>\n<p><strong>El Sisi to meet corporate leaders: <\/strong>The president will also sit down with representatives of major German companies to talk trade and investment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Our friends at AmCham are hosting the US-Egypt Future Prosperity Forum today<\/strong>, with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Global Markets Ian Steff, and several Egyptian ministers scheduled to speak. You can check out the full agenda <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amcham.org.eg\/mail\/agenda181119.html\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class='web-image stand-out-borderless' ><a href='http:\/\/somabay.com\/'><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ent.news\/2019\/11\/somabay-1600.jpg?ssl=1\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Aramco to seek USD 1.6-1.7 tn valuation, falling short of MbS\u2019 initial goals:<\/strong> Saudi Aramco is seeking a valuation of USD 1.6-1.7 tn, a significant fall from the USD 2 tn Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman was originally looking for, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/saudi-aramco-ipo-price-range-values-company-at-up-to-1-7-trillion-11573977968?mod=hp_lead_pos1\">the Wall Street Journal reports<\/a>. The company will sell a 1.5% stake (around 3 bn shares) at between USD 8 and USD 8.52 per share, raising nearly USD 25 bn if priced at the midpoint. This would put Aramco \u2014 long expected to hold the world\u2019s largest ever IPO \u2014 behind Alibaba which raised USD 25 bn in its 2014 offering. Despite being the world\u2019s most profitable company and despite a big marketing push from the Saudi government, international investors haven\u2019t exactly been rushing to grab a piece of the IPO as risks from government intervention and terrorist attacks continue to loom.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Saudi\u2019s main stocks were largely unchanged at the end of trading yesterday,<\/strong> with the Tadawul closing 0.1% up despite climbing 0.4% earlier in the day, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2019-11-17\/saudi-stocks-rise-as-aramco-seeks-1-7-trillion-valuation-in-ipo?srnd=premium-middle-east\">Bloomberg<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"grey-line\">\n<p><strong>Don\u2019t expect a rally in EM stocks anytime soon as volatility hits five-year lows:<\/strong> Emerging-market equities continue to underperform despite several months of interest rate cuts around the world and the so-called \u2018golden cross\u2019 appearing this month, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2019-11-17\/emerging-markets-grapple-with-low-volatility-amid-rate-cut-pause\">Bloomberg says<\/a>. And now that several major central banks have hinted that they will bring an end to the easing cycle, a bounce in EM stocks will be reliant on positive developments on US-China trade. Anders Faergemann, senior money manager at Pinebridge Investments, told the news information service that EMs are currently a \u201cmixed bag,\u201d but cited Egypt and Ukraine as particularly promising markets due to their reform efforts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is a <\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.investopedia.com\/terms\/g\/goldencross.asp\">golden cross<\/a><\/strong><strong>? <\/strong>The golden cross occurs when an index\u2019s short-term moving average rises above its long-term average. It is seen as a predictor of a bull market.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Share prices in developed markets are rising, so everything is rosy, right?<\/strong> <strong>Wrong,<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/61afb3b8-06f4-11ea-9afa-d9e2401fa7ca\">the Financial Times<\/a> warns in an editorial. Morrison claimed that the ambassador had discussed the matter directly with Trump.
