We have chapter and verse on both stories in this morning\u2019s Speed Round, below.<\/p>\n<p><b>Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry arrives in Washington today for talks with Ethiopia and Sudan<\/b> over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam. The meetings kick off on Wednesday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/MFAEgypt\/posts\/3256073897797867?__xts__%5b0%5d=68.ARBx8LTWQSZxkb8shRSLTlYWc4Jk8JF0CmQwoQoAsEh3XK2ah7fdVVAZ9hn-rYd4p2xqfiemuJWBhzAMEX3xeAR3UNhzHef6ZkWosZV1rmMVck6hbbXATjMx8HUppfdI2ttdAXy2VR29Hcnug4YxXqJluXGRoWlw7O4uPNrcQeU6dm_wvyVRN4BU57wJeRzYWW_ZicuPHXqJzq-JPJkz-Vxlvs0Wz47_qwOCUrzx4Tx5cE48rOh6dI4UA5Vv7blePjyvU8UVEsTrmNA0f6bQH31K4APozRd7uitVJaENiq-EZkD2tR2OsJjs54t3adSrVZS6d0i-qaXHAqChXEmiTw&__tn__=-R\">according to a ministry statement<\/a>. World Bank officials will also sit in on the discussions. <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2019\/11\/03\/what-were-tracking-on-3-november-2019\/\">Ethiopia confirmed on Thursday<\/a> that it had accepted the <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2019\/10\/30\/us-to-play-a-role-in-mediating-the-egypt-ethiopia-gerd-conflict\/\">Trump administration\u2019s invitation<\/a> for talks, an offer that Egypt had two weeks ago before President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed<a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2019\/10\/27\/egypt-ethiopia-agree-to-dial-back-gerd-tensions-restart-talks\/\">agreed at the Russia-Africa summit to resume technical talks<\/a>. Ethiopia had repeatedly refused mediation by third parties and underlined that the meetings would not involve direct negotiations, but discussions only.<\/p>\n<p><b>Egypt, Greece, and Cyprus will hold a three-way defense meeting<\/b> in Athens tomorrow, <a href=\"https:\/\/cyprus-mail.com\/2019\/11\/02\/defence-ministers-of-cyprus-greece-and-egypt-to-hold-trilateral-in-athens\/\">according to the Cyprus Mail<\/a>. The next day will see the three ministers flying to Crete to watch part of the trilateral \u201cMedusa 9\u201d military drill that started on Friday and wraps up on 8 November.<\/p>\n<p><b>You can expect the Central Bank of Egypt to announce foreign reserve levels today <\/b>covering the status as of 31 October. Foreign reserves stood at USD 45.11 bn <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2019\/10\/02\/foreign-reserves-inch-up-to-usd-45-11-bn-in-september\/\">at the end of September<\/a>, up fractionally from USD 44.97 at the end of the previous month.<\/p>\n<p><b>The <\/b><a href=\"http:\/\/narrativesummit.com\/\"><b>Narrative PR Summit<\/b><\/a><b>, <\/b>part of the Arab League\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/sdg.iisd.org\/events\/arab-sustainable-development-week\/\">Arab Sustainable Development week<\/a>, <b>kicked off yesterday<\/b>, and will run all week.<\/p>\n<p><b>PSA #1- We\u2019re getting that long weekend after all:<\/b> The public sector will have Sunday, 10 November off for the Prophet\u2019s birthday, which actually falls on Saturday, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/EgyptianCabinet\/photos\/a.825570437621323\/1401237533387941\/?type=3&theater\">a cabinet statement<\/a>. The central bank subsequently declared Sunday to be a bank holiday, the EGX will follow suit. Until it does, we think it safe to assume we\u2019re all going to be off on Sunday. <b>Enterprise will also be taking the day to rest<\/b>, and we\u2019ll be back in your inboxes as usual on Monday, 11 November.<\/p>\n<p><b>PSA #2- It\u2019s that time of year where our friends in the US and UK have their body clocks scrambled, and no one\u2019s quite sure why.<\/b> Clocks fell back one hour in <a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/5716944\/daylight-savings-fall-2019\/\">the US yesterday<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/when-do-the-clocks-change\">in the UK a week ago<\/a>. Egypt did away with the entire concept of daylight savings a few years ago.<\/p>\n<p><b>Key dates on which to keep your eye:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Tomorrow is PMI day<\/b>, with October\u2019s reading of the IHS \/ Markit Purchasing Managers\u2019 Index expected at about 6:15am CLT;<\/li>\n<li><b>Sunday, 10 November is inflation day<\/b>, with the CBE and state statistics agency CAPMAS releasing figures for headline and core inflation;<\/li>\n<li><b>Thursday, 14 November is interest rate day<\/b>, when the CBE\u2019s Monetary Policy Committee meets to seat interest rates. The two will join forces to challenge Apple\u2019s rapidly-growing wearable-tech business, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/f6a710b4-fca5-11e9-a354-36acbbb0d9b6\">Financial Times reports<\/a>, but tech insiders are skeptical that the Google-Fitbit merger will give it the chops it needs.
