The news comes on the heels of cabinet\u2019s <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/a254b1c5-fe22-492c-9e39-d5be1a93b2cc\" style=\"\">approval<\/a><\/span><span> to allocate land for the two planned factories. <\/span><span style=\"\">A representative of the company declined to comment on the matter when we reached out last week.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">Refresher:<\/span><span style=\"\"> Cabinet earlier this month approved in principle a plan put forward by Alstom to <\/span><span style=\"\">establish an<\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\"> industrial complex in Borg El Arab. The complex is set to include two factories producing electrical and signaling systems and other parts for railways, metro lines, high-speed rails, and monorails.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">Where do the plans stand? <\/span><span style=\"\">Alstom is in talks with the Transport Ministry to finalize the designs <\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">of the factories, which should be drawn up in line with the specifications of the Egyptian Railway Authority and the National Authority for Tunnels, according to Al Mal\u2019s sources.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">Alstom is a big player in Cairo public transit projects: <\/span><span style=\"\">The company is <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alstom.com\/monorail-story-greater-cairo\" style=\"\">leading the<\/a><\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alstom.com\/monorail-story-greater-cairo\" style=\"\">consortium<\/a><\/span><span> in charge of the Sixth of October-new capital monorail, and is a key supplier for the Cairo Metro, <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/dfceb221-fc3a-4c21-8327-7a7104b86764\" style=\"\">providing new rolling stock for Metro Line 1<\/a><\/span><span>, and signaling and control systems for the third phase of <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alstom.com\/press-releases-news\/2022\/10\/alstom-puts-service-four-stations-cairo-metro-line-3-phase-3a\" style=\"\">Metro Line 3<\/a><\/span><span>. It is also set to supply rolling stock and a raft of equipment for the planned <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a
