Al Mashat did not name the specific projects that are set to receive funding. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">NWFE?<\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\"> The International Cooperation Ministry\u2019s program aims to raise blended finance for nine climate adaptation and renewables projects worth a combined USD 15 bn. These include a massive energy project worth US 10 bn, five projects in the field of agriculture and food security, and three in irrigation and water resources. The program was launched ahead of last year\u2019s COP27 climate summit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">The EIB is already a \u201c<\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;font-weight:700;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/35824fc4-dcf9-45e2-a8f1-58c520f69336\" style=\"\">main development partner<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight:700\">\u201d for NWFE <\/span><span>and on the sidelines of COP27 said it <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/f937b85f-53c2-4742-ab81-a431b6347423\" style=\"\">could commit some USD 1.5 bn<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\"> in financing for Egyptian water treatment projects. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">International have shown NWFE a lot of love: <\/span><span>The African Development Bank (AfDB) <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/7817579d-ada8-4f9e-9b92-48d2aab54d3a\" style=\"\">earlier this year said<\/a><\/span><span> it has mobilized USD 2.2 bn to improve our water security under the NWFE program. <\/span><span>The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development \u2014 the lead partner on NWFE\u2019s energy pillar \u2014 has allocated <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/6de6e137-c444-4227-8153-71e7742f4808\" style=\"\">USD 200-300 mn<\/a><\/span><span> to the energy track of the program. The money will help Egypt to <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/bb47fa0e-86be-4684-9bfb-ee1067524e29\" style=\"\">decommission 5 GW of gas-fired power plants<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\"> starting this year. The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) is committing USD 200 mn to the food track, while a number of other organizations partnering with IFAD are providing another USD 775 mn.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">Lots of commitments from the EIB: <\/span><span>The bank recently said it will<\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/94760850-82f3-4729-85d4-ec7d737a13eb\" style=\"\">invest EUR 50 mn<\/a><\/span><span> every year into Egypt-focused private equity and venture capital firms.
