Good morning, wonderful people, and a very happy THURSDAY. <\/span>With the Eid holiday taki<\/span>ng up a chunk of next week and the week after, today marks the completion of our first full work week for a while. You wouldn\u2019t know it from the news cycle, though, which is anything but slowing down. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a> <\/span>CBE confirms Eid dates:<\/span> Like the public sector, banks will be off from Tuesday, 27 June <\/span>through Monday, 3 July in observance of Eid El Adha and the anniversary of the 30 June revolution, according to <\/span>a Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) statement<\/a><\/span>. We\u2019re still waiting for confirmation from the Manpower Ministry and the EGX that the private sector and bourse will follow suit. <\/span><\/p>\n

THE BIG STORY here at home: The government\u2019s privatization program and economic <\/span>reform agenda are once again dominating the news cycle. <\/span>This morning brings news of an upcoming IPO for a Suez Canal company, plus fresh tax and investment reforms from the cabinet meant to boost the private sector\u2019s role in the economy. <\/a> <\/span>It\u2019s interest rate day:<\/span> The Central Bank of Egypt is expected to leave interest rates unchanged <\/span>when it holds its policy meeting. That\u2019s according to <\/span>our customary rate poll<\/a><\/span>, where <\/span>seven of nine<\/a><\/span> analysts forecast a pause due to slowing global tightening and lower prospects of a near-term EGP deval. Separate polls from <\/span>CNBC Arabia<\/a><\/span> and <\/span>Reuters<\/a><\/span> concur<\/span>. <\/span><\/p>\n
