<\/span>The Beatles are releasing one more song, thanks to AI\u2019s \u201csource separation\u201d<\/span> technology<\/span>, the <\/span>Associated Press<\/a><\/span> reported. The record, which was created by extracting John Lennon\u2019s voice from an old demo from 1978, is slated to be released this year, Paul McCartney told the <\/span>BBC<\/a><\/span>. While the name of the original title is unknown, it could be from an unfinished love song called \u201cNow and Then.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The singer called the use of artificial intelligence \u201cscary but exciting\u201d<\/span> as it allowed him to<\/span> duet with his former bandmate during the Glastonbury Festival, decades after Lennon\u2019s murder. It consists of separating the human voice from instruments on a track in order to create new songs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Egyptian artists gave that a go last month:<\/span> Composer Amr Mostafa used AI to bring back<\/span>Umm Kalthoum\u2019s voice back to life<\/a><\/span> in what he dubbed a cultural revival project \u2014 with significant repercussions pertaining to IP rights and ethical concerns. Whether Mostafa used \u201csource separation\u201d as is speculated in Lennon\u2019s case or deep fake technology is unclear.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span> Egyptian authorities are going to mummify the shark that killed a Russian<\/span> national in Hurghada last week<\/span>, <\/span>The Independent<\/a><\/span>reported. The shark \u2014 which was captured and killed following the incident \u2014 was handed to researchers to try and assess whether its behavior can be explained by a pattern that may reoccur in the near future<\/span>.<\/span> So far, scientists have recovered some of the victim\u2019s remains from the female tiger shark\u2019s intestines and are preparing it to be displayed at the Egyptian National Institute of Marine Sciences\u2019 museum, the <\/span>Daily Mail<\/a><\/span> said<\/span>. Atypical, but not unprecedented: <\/span>The vicious attack claimed the life of 23-year-old Vladimir<\/span> Popov as he tried to escape the sea animal on the shores of the popular Red Sea resort. By the time rescuers got to him, it was already too late to save his life.
